Solar & Batteries Calculators
Size a home solar system before you call installers. Estimate the number of panels for your electricity use and location, the installed cost, the years to pay it back and the battery capacity for backup.

Guides
Sun hours drive everything
A panel’s output depends on the peak sun hours where you live: the equivalent number of hours per day of full, 1,000 W/m² sunlight. Arizona gets roughly twice the sun hours of the cloudiest northern states, so it needs far fewer panels for the same usage.
Estimates, not quotes
Our calculators use averages. Roof direction, tilt, shading and local incentives change the result, so use them to check whether installer quotes are reasonable.
