About Energy Quantities

Energy Quantities is a set of free calculators for home energy: electricity costs, solar panels, EV charging and backup power. Each tool is built by a software engineer with more than 20 years of experience and checked against worked examples before it goes live.

Where our numbers come from

• Electricity prices come from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA).
• Solar prices and production assumptions come from published sources such as EnergySage and NREL, cited on each page.
• Appliance and generator wattages come from manufacturer and university extension guides.
• Every formula is covered by automated tests, and each page shows the formula and a worked example.

Results are estimates. Your utility rate, equipment and location will change the numbers, so use them to plan and to check quotes. Found a mistake? Let us know and we will fix it.
